See
Napoli.com for news of the discovery of the ancient theatre of Baia, thanks to satellite imagery. The remains of the theatre are under water and can be seen just off the coast. They are located beneath (and partly built into) a hill where at a later date the Castello Aragonese was constructed. The theatre faced the sea, and it has been suggested that this is the famous 'Theatre of Caesar' (Tacitus claims that Caesar had a villa on the Bay of Baia), and that the remains of the villa and theatre were incorporated into the later castle.
