Yet more ways to combine the sea and archaeology: the underwater park at Gaiola is Italy's smallest marine protected area, but very special. Lots of archaeology, both underwater and on land. The friendly team who work at the Centro Studi Interdisciplinari Gaiola are a mix of biologists and archaeologists.
I've been meaning to blog about them for a while, but finally remembered to do so because they've just bought a glass-bottomed boat - yes, that's right: another way to see underwater archaeology without getting wet!La visita Guidata a Bordo del battello Aquavision parte Centro Visite (Discesa Gaiola 27/28) dove, dopo una una breve presentazione dell'Area Marina Protetta con l’ausilio di materiale audiovisivo, si scenderà al porticciolo della Gaiola dove ci si imbarcherà per la visita che si snoderà all'interno del perimetro del Parco dal borgo di Marechiaro alla Baia di Trentaremi, illustrandone le caratteristiche naturalistiche, vulcanologiche e storico-archeologiche.
Il contributo per la visita è di 12Euro a persona e la durata è di circa 1,5 ore.
