The Jashemski Photos, from 1955 to 1984, on pompeiiinpictures

The Jashemski Photos, from 1955 to 1984, on pompeiiinpictures

Generally, the photographs have been added into their relevant houses positioned next to the same photos from the present day or older. They provide a remarkable basis for comparison of now and 50+ years ago, with some houses in their freshly excavated state and some in their reconstructed, stabilised state.

The photographs also show the pioneering methods used by Wilhelmina to take casts of plant remains and to identify garden and vineyard layouts that existed before the eruption of 79AD. We have added these photographs at the end of each of the major gardens she excavated and they are arranged to demonstrate the "story" of the garden excavations' process step by step.

The properties with extensive parts dedicated to Wilhelmina and Stanley's photographs can be seen using these links

There will also be extensive coverage of Wilhelmina's garden excavations (1968-1983/84) covered in the Villa of Oplontis. We have a large number of photographs ready, and we will be visiting there on our week long trip starting Friday 25th September. We will be publishing these after we return.

If you see us in Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis or Stabiae please feel free to say hello.
