Vidéo : Pompéi à l’honneur au musée Maillol

For those interested in the current exhibition at the Malliol, there's a video of it and interview with  the curator on the National Geographic France website:

Videos on Discovery Channel

There are a whole bunch of new videos about Pompeii on the Discovery Channel, clips of the new Discovery Channel programme on Pompeii which was supposed to air in the US yesterday. I forgot to blog about this (it's been a heavy couple of months!)! Did it actually air yesterday? Was it any good?

Video: Pompeii deconstructed

Just came across this video on the History Channel. I'm not sure if it's old or new, but I haven't seen it before. It has some interesting graphics (the text is a bit dodgy, however). I particularly liked (well, not 'liked') seeing Naples be destroyed.

Pompeii ("Bang Bang (My Lover Shot Me Down)" by Nancy Sinatra)

Take a look at this fabulous video by History Teachers (first seen on Rogue Classicism, along with a bunch of other such videos). Great stuff!

Mice in Pompeii!

This is possibly one of the funniest Pompeii-related things I have ever seen! Thank you to the student who sent it to me!

Vesuvioweb.com on UTube

www.vesuvioweb.com have been uploading videos to UTube. There are all sorts of things, all about Neapolitan culture and history, and there are some interesting clips of archaeological sites (Pompeii, Boscoreale, Oplontis, Villa Sora) and eruptions of Vesuvius (slide-shows of paintings and photos from different periods). See their UTube page here. This is a useful teaching resource, I think.
This video shows the excavation of the Villa Sora, and some of the frescoes found there. Having visited the remains of this villa recently - which is in poor condition - so it's nice to see the frescoes with such vivid colours (although I suspect that a few of the pictures in the middle of the clip have been touched up!) and it gives an idea of how beautiful this villa must once have been.
