Love Among Pompeii’s Ruins Extends to Dogs

An article about the (C)ave Canem project to solve Pompeii's stray dog problem appeared in the NY Times over the weekend (my thanks to those of you who emailed me with the link!). So far, 22 dogs have been adopted, at a cost of $100,000. But it is estimated that there are 75,000 stray dogs in Campania as a whole - so clearly some other approach is needed to deal with the wider problem ...
