Città sommerse, antri sacri e vinoterapia: esplode la primavera nei Campi flegrei
Anche quest'anno tante iniziative da Pozzuoli a Miseno: visite archeologiche, escursioni sportive e gastronomia
NAPOLI - Torna la primavera e «si risvegliano» le centinaia di iniziative per promuovere il territorio dei Campi Flegrei, suggestiva zona archeologica e paesaggistica a nord di Napoli. Oltre sessanta soggetti tra associazioni, cooperative, aziende turistiche, produttori agricoli locali, cantine, ristoranti, bar, diving, artisti, editori, scuole hanno infatti organizzato anche quest’anno la «Primavera nei Campi Flegrei», un ricco cartellone di eventi che si svilupperà tra il 21 marzo e il 20 giugno. La kermesse è promossa e coordinata dall’Azienda di Cura, Soggiorno e Turismo di Pozzuoli, ma tutti gli eventi, autofinanziati, sono organizzati dai singoli soggetti. Alcune manifestazioni sono gratuite. Lo scorso anno furono migliaia i turisti che parteciparono alle iniziative. Quest’anno la manifestazione si ripete raddoppiando le iniziative.

Du chantier de fouilles au musée.

Le sort des collections archéologiques aujourd'hui. En collaboration avec Le Monde.

La constitution des collections archéologiques des grands musées historiques occidentaux repose, en majeure partie, sur les campagnes de fouilles initiées au XIXe siècle, dans le contexte de l’histoire des colonies, protectorats, des mandats et des zones d’influence économique, politique et culturelle. Le rôle de ces « musées universels », nécessairement réinterprété à l’aune de l’histoire contemporaine, suscite aujourd’hui une réflexion internationale sur le patrimoine archéologique. Une évolution culturelle est sensible dans l’essor des initiatives locales et la valorisation du patrimoine archéologique par la création de musées de sites, qui offrent des alternatives à la centralisation des biens archéologiques. Si les institutions muséales n’ont pas pour autant abandonné leurs missions archéologiques, de nouvelles pratiques se sont développées afin de préserver l’enrichissement et la mutualisation des connaissances. Le musée du Louvre a ainsi récemment engagé d’importantes missions sur de nouveaux sites, notamment au Soudan, en Iran, en Asie Centrale et en Syrie, et a réactivé certains chantiers de fouilles historiques, comme en en Italie et en Turquie. Quel est aujourd’hui le sort des objets de fouilles ? Comment cette mission des musées s’articule-t-elle avec la conservation et l’exposition des collections ? Quels sont aujourd’hui, à l’échelle internationale, les nouveaux modèles de collaboration scientifique ? Cette journée-débat entend aborder, à travers trois questions-clés, les grandes lignes d’évolution quant aux liens entre fouilles archéologiques, conservation et exposition des objets dans le monde muséal d’aujourd’hui.

'Scientists to drill 13,000ft into active volcano in test that could cause earthquake'

It was almost a year ago that we started posting newspaper reports about plans to drill in the Campi Flegrei. And now the story is back. I saw it this morning in The Telegraph, and then realised that Erik Klemetti of the excellent Eruptions blog had already caught the story (first reported yesterday in Nature) and expressed his frustration about journalistic fear-mongering. Read Erik's post for a scientist's perspective on the work in the Campi Flegrei, which is apparently due to start next month.

Italian volcano questions

Those of you interested in the current state of knowledge about Italian volcanoes should check out this interview with Dr. Boris Behncke of the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Catania, which has just been published on the Eruptions blog. Vesuvius and the Campi Flegrei naturally feature quite prominently. It's interesting stuff.

Drilling into volcano will not make it erupt, scientists say

Another article about plans to drill in the Campi Flegrei appeared in The Times on Saturday. This one included an interview with Dr. Chris Kilburn, a scientist from UCL actually involved in the project. You can follow the link above to the full article, but here are some choice quotes from Dr. Kilburn:

“We’re not going to drill into the magma chamber or erupt the volcano. We’re going to be standing on the damned thing so unless we want to commit some sort of collective euthanasia that wouldn’t be a good idea.”

“The idea that all the magma would come whooshing up the hole is total Hollywood fantasy. It would be like trying to suck porridge through a straw.”

“People in the area aren’t really aware of the project yet, but they are pretty volatile and there will be people upset about it."

Plan to pierce heart of urban monster volcano

And this is terrifying ... Scientists are apparently about to start sinking boreholes to a depth of 4 kilometres in the Campi Flegrei caldera, in the hope of establishing whether this giant volcano will erupt in the near future. Before major eruptions, the earth's crust rises (so the report says) and this is what has been happening in Pozzuoli since the 1960s (ground levels have risen by 3 metres). Malazè - the food and wine event in the Campi Flegrei

Cari enogastronauti,
eccoci giunti alla IV edizione di Malazè - il cratere del gusto.
Ogni anno si cerca di limare gli errori commessi nelle precedenti edizioni, ma soprattutto nuovi soggetti si avvicinano a “Malazè”, arricchendolo di nuova linfa vitale, con la loro cultura e le loro storie.
Quando pensammo a “Malazè”, lo concepimmo in progress, nel senso che l’obbiettivo finale sarebbe stato, quello di farlo diventare una vera e propria vetrina dell’enogastronomia e delle attività legate allo sfruttamento delle risorse archeologiche e ambientali dei Campi Flegrei.
Con questa edizione siamo giunti al 70% del nostro progetto, che sembrava un sogno irrealizzabile per il nostro territorio.
Oggi a questo evento partecipano quasi 100 soggetti, tra imprese di settore e il mondo dell’associazionismo. Ora verrà la parte più difficile da realizzare per lanciare Malazè definitivamente.

Parte che in genere dovrebbe competere alle istituzioni, promuovendo ed affiancando progetti come questo con la partecipazione di buyers, educational tours, giornalisti ed esperti del settore. l nostro lavoro, con entusiasmo e passione, continuerà, comunque.
Alle tante persone che approfitteranno di questa manifestazione per trascorrere alcuni momenti di completo relax godereccio, vogliamo dire che troveranno tante belle iniziative enogastronomiche, ma soprattutto entreranno in contatto con le tante belle persone che partecipano a Malazè, ognuna con la sua storia, il suo evento e con le bellezze uniche dei nostri territori.

Beloved food and wine surfers!
here we come to IV edition of Malazè – the taste crater.
Every year we try to correct all mistakes made in the former editions, but above all new characters approach Malazè, enriching it with new vital lymph, with their culture and their stories.
When we thought about Malazè, we conceived it as in progress, in a way that the final purpose was to let it become a true showcase of the wine and food and of all activities tied to the Campi Flegrei archaeological and environmental resources exploitation.
With this edition we came to 70% of our project, and it seemed an unattainable dream for our country.
Today almost 100 characters join this event, considering sector enterprises and associationism world. Now comes the hardest part to realize to bring out once and for all Malazè.
This part should usually be responsibility of the state institutions, advertising and supporting projects like this with the involvement of buyers, educational tours, journalists and experts at this sector. Anyhow, our work will continue with enthusiasm and passion.
To all people who will take advantage of this cultural event to spend some relaxing and merry moment, we want to say that they will find a lot of beautiful food and wine initiatives, but, most of all, they will be in touch with all the beautiful people that attend Malazè, everyone with his story, with his happening and with our country unique beauties.

Siti archeologici aperti a Pasqua e Lunedì in Albis

La Soprintendenza speciale per i beni archeologici di Napoli e Pompei comunica che i siti archeologici dei campi Flegrei, di Napoli, dell’area Vesuviana e della penisola sorrentina saranno regolarmente aperti nei giorni di Pasqua, domenica 12 aprile, e di lunedì in Albis, 13 aprile, come da orari consueti.
Nei principali siti in è in corso la manifestazione Archeologia e Natura nella baia di Napoli.Un viaggio nel verde delle aree archeologiche da Cuma, passando per Baia, Pozzuoli e Posillipo fino a Punta Campanella, inclusi i siti di Pompei, Ercolano, Oplontis, la Villa Iovis e la Villa di Damecuta sull’isola di Capri.
